My January didn't get off to a great start....

The first few days of January didn’t get off to the best start for me. My motivation was at an all-time low, and honestly, I wasn’t giving my training the effort it deserved.

Sure, I was showing up—but I wasn’t fully there. I was going through the motions, and for someone like me, that’s very unlike me.

You’d think that, being a health coach, I’d be firing on all cylinders in January, right? Training hard, eating like a saint, crushing my goals...

But the reality? I wasn’t.

Instead, I was focused on helping my clients get back into the swing of things—setting goals, adjusting their calories, tweaking workouts. It’s all good stuff, but I let my own well-being take a back seat.

Fortunately, I recognized it before it got worse. I took a day to reflect and reset.

I’ve now set some new work-life boundaries—giving myself time for work, family, meal prep, and, yes, my training.

Sometimes, we just need to pause, step back, and take a good look at the bigger picture.

I’m also grateful for my mentor, who reminded me: “Take time to reflect, Dan. You’re doing good.”

That advice hit home. Because we can’t pour from an empty cup.

So if you’re feeling like you’re running on empty this January, know that you’re not alone. Take a moment, reset, and remember: your well-being matters.

From one real human to another—let’s make January count.

Dan
